In an effort to encourage more people to the polls in December's General Election an Exmouth bar is offering a free beer to voters.

Exmouth's Spoken, The Strand, will be offering voters a free Spoken Four beer after they have been to the ballot box.

In order to be eligible for a free beer you must provide proof you have voted.

Spoken landlord George Nightingale said: "Perhaps not as much as other years, but there tends to be a lethargy on voting in elections and so I just wanted to do our bit to spur people on.

"A beer for doing it is hopefully a good incentive and if nothing else it will be a good opportunity for the community to get together and predict what the news will be the following day. If you're excited about it as much as I am then great, if not - free beer

"Once you've voted in this year's election, head to Spoken for a free cold one to seal the deal and congratulate yourself for doing so.

"Bring in your polling card with you to claim a free Spoken Four beer while stocks last! One per person."

If you want to check if you are registered to vote or you would like to register by completing a paper form, then contact the East Devon Electoral Services Helpline on 01395 571529 or email: [email protected]
