Exmouth: Beware of this cold caller asking to buy a motor home

A cold caller with an Irish accent went uninvited to an Exmouth home in the Rivermead Avenue area on Friday (7 May).
He told the occupant that he was looking to buy a motorhome, and had noticed that the occupant had one for sale.
The occupant told him that this was not the case, and the cold caller left.
Police are warning residents that if they are approached and asked to sell their motorhome, car, or motorcycle by an unsolicited person - someone they don't know and have not been in contact with - they could be at risk of being scammed.
The person will likely return after buying the vehicle complaining of 'multiple unmentioned faults', and then pressure the owner into selling for much less.
Police strongly advise 'not to enter into any sale agreement with unknown persons'.
You can report crime or give information anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or online.
