A specialist water rescue team from Exmouth was mobilised yesterday (27 June) to help with the rescue of a man stuck in mud in a river in Exeter at around 3.40am.

Together with two fire engines from Danes Castle and Middlemoor, they helped get the casualty, who had been located by police, out of the water using water rescue equipment and wading poles.

The man was then left with the ambulance service.
