Firefighters from Exmouth were called in to help with a serious fire in a bungalow last night (August 5).

The fire service was inundated with calls regarding a bungalow on fire in Fore Street, Cullompton, last night.

The Exmouth team joined firefighters from Cullompton, Middlemoor, Tiverton, Wellington, Taunton and Honiton in tackling the blaze.

When firefighters arrived it was clear that the fire had spread from the ground floor to the roof.

Firefighters using breathing apparatus used hose reel jets, a safety jet and an attack jet to tackle the fire.

A water bowser had to be called in from Danes Castle, as well as a 'welfare pod' from Burnham on Sea.

One man was treated at the scene by paramedics for smoke inhalation.

The fire was extinguished at around 11.30pm yesterday but some firefighters stayed at the scene to prevent any further outbreaks of fire.

The roof of the bungalow was completely destroyed in the blaze and the rest of the property suffered significant damage.
