An Exmouth footbridge which was damaged by a fallen tree at the end of last year will soon be repaired.

East Devon District Council has announced that work to replace the closed bridge between Burnside and Springfield Road will take place this Friday (September 4).

A crane will be used to lower a new metal bridge into place and will be set up in Springfield a road, requiring closure of a small parking area.

A spokesperson for East Devon District Council said: "The bridge was assessed as structurally unsafe last November when a large tree fell on it, damaging the railings and supporting joists.

"Repairs have been delayed due to a long insurance investigation and the Covid-19 Pandemic so it will be great to have this much used route open again."
