The mayor of Exmouth, Steve Gazzard, has sent sincere condolences to the Queen on the death of Prince Philip on behalf of residents.

He said: "Our thoughts are with Her Majesty the Queen and the Royal Family at this very sad time. The Duke of Edinburgh will be remembered for his exemplary service to the Queen and our country."

Exmouth Town Council has asked members of the public who wish to pay their respects to either leave wreaths in front of the war memorial in The Strand, or to sign an online book of condolence on their website.

The council will also be flying the Union Flag at half-mast until the Duke of Edinburgh's funeral.
