Exmouth Nub News welcomes new partnership with Bluebird Care Exmouth
Exmouth Nub News is delighted to announce its new partnership with Bluebird Care Exmouth, a home care company rated 'Outstanding' by the Care Quality Commission.
Bluebird Care Exmouth's team delivers live-in, domiciliary, night and enabling care to people in their own homes in and around Exmouth – supporting them to live as independently as they can, on their own terms.
Person-centred care
Exmouth Hub Manager Frankie Rowe explained that care given can range from helping people get dressed in the morning, to enabling visits and helping with shopping.
She said: "Everything that we do is person-centred. The customers are completely in charge - they tell us what they want, and how they'd like things done."
Before the Covid-19 pandemic, Bluebird staff would bring clients together to socialise and have fun.
Now, since they are unable to meet, staff have adapted their strategy on reducing loneliness.
Frankie added: "We've started … taking our laptops to visits and arranging video calls with family members.
"We help them with the physical things they can't do in their homes, but there's also their mental health needs."
Supporting staff wellbeing
Frankie has been working with Bluebird Care for nine years now, and she particularly enjoys the positive staff atmosphere.
She said: "Bluebird Care are a great company to work for. They reward their staff regularly. Pre-Covid, we did summer awards parties, Christmas parties, 'Care-Assistant of the Month'.
"Between the Covid lockdowns last year we paid for all our staff to go and get haircuts, which was something they hadn't been able to do!
"We have a real family feel amongst the staff … we all work really closely together, say nice things to each other, we compliment each other and celebrate the work that we do as being something of real importance.
"Every single member of our staff has something different that they can bring to the table for our customers."
Bluebird Care also have a Care Worker of the Month scheme, and use an app called 'Care Friends' on which people can earn extra money referring friends and sharing jobs. Members of staff can currently earn £1000 for a referral.
