Youngsters have been behaving anti-socially in parts of Exmouth recently, according to local police officers - including throwing eggs at people.

The force said residents' fences have been damaged, apples have been hurled at properties at the end of the school day and eggs have been chucked at houses and also at people in The Strand, especially in the evening.

Police are now in the process of identifying male youths in video footage they received, and have asked parents who have had eggs go missing from their homes to "consider if your child may be using them inappropriately".

Officers will also be visiting local shops to ask them not to sell eggs to young people.

A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson said: "Exmouth police have received numerous reports of anti-social behaviour in and around The Strand, the residential areas of the marina [and] the lane leading from Withycombe Village Road to the rugby club into Hulham Road.

"Youths may find this behaviour very amusing, the victims of ASB can find it very intimidating and elderly persons can be very frightened by this behaviour."
