A "dangerous" folding knife that appeared similar to a bank card was discovered by Exmouth police officers recently after a male individual from Budleigh was detained and searched.

The person in question was arrested and has since been convicted of being in possession of a knife/bladed article in a public place, but also for battery, possession of cannabis, and possession of a controlled class C drug.

When folded, the knife appears to be like a bank card (Devon and Cornwall Police)

A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson said: "A Budleigh male has recently been arrested and now convicted for being in possession of a knife/bladed article in a public place.

"The male was detained and searched by Neighbourhood Policing Team officers who located the below item concealed in his wallet.

"As it can be seen... the item at first glance appears to be a simple bank card but on further discovery it can be folded into a dangerous knife.

"The male was also convicted for battery, possession of cannabis and possession of a controlled class C drug."
