A planning application to demolish former Exmouth pub The Beacon Vaults and build two houses in its place has been withdrawn.

The proposed development would have seen all buildings on the site demolished and the construction of a pair of identical four-storey five-bed "Georgian" town houses.

According to the planning documents, the existing building is "in very poor condition" and "beyond financially viable repair".

The Beacon Vaults is not a listed property, but is part of a terrace of listed properties. The current building was developed in around 1930 with "a mock-Tudor façade and significant non-traditional alterations".
