Firefighters put out Exmouth oven fire
Firefighters put out an oven fire in an Exmouth kitchen on Thursday (2 March).
Crews were called to the scene at 10.20am, where they cleared the room of smoke and extinguished the fire.
The oven was left slightly damaged by fire and the kitchen by smoke.
A Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue spokesperson said: "Fire Control received a call from the occupier of a property to say there was a fire in their property. All persons were told to evacuate the premises.
"Two fire engines attended and confirmed there was a small fire involving the oven in the kitchen of the property.
"Crews used two breathing apparatus wearers and a positive pressure ventilation fan was used to clear the room of smoke.
"The fire caused approximately five per cent damage to the oven and approximately 10 per cent smoke damage to the kitchen.
"The cause was accidental and duty of care was left with the occupiers."
