Exmouth RNLI volunteers towed a broken-down boat to safety when they were on exercise at the weekend.

At 11.43am on Saturday (19 August), the crew of Exmouth RNLI's inshore lifeboat found a 19-foot Bayliner boat with engine failure drifting near buoy 21 on the River Exe.

The vessel had two people on board, neither of whom had a lifejacket.

The lifeboat crew established that the engine could not be restarted and so towed the boat to the safety of the shore at Topsham, arriving there at 12.28pm.

The volunteers resumed their exercise at 1.07pm, having satisfied themselves that the vessel was no longer a hazard and the two occupants were safe and well.
