Volunteer crew of Exmouth RNLI were tasked to attend a report of a kayaker in difficulty near Exmouth Marina on Wednesday (19 April).

At 6.02pm, HM Coastguard tasked the volunteer crew of Exmouth RNLI all weather lifeboat 13-03 R & J Welburn to a report of a kayaker in difficulty off Exmouth Marina. The launch was authorised by Deputy Launch Authority, Hedley Saunders.

The lifeboat was manned by lifesavers Steve Hockings-Thompson, Guy Munnings, Mark Cockman, Ed Thomas, Andy Stott and Matt Bragg.

A search commenced of the area and at 6.32pm the casualty was located and identified off Dawlish Warren.

He was no longer in difficulty, was safe and well and did not require any further assistance - at which time HM Coastguard stood down the lifeboat.
