Exmouth RNLI volunteers rescued three kitesurfers in difficulty on the River Exe on Wednesday (18 October).

The charity launched its inshore lifeboat just after 12pm and sped to the scene in choppy seas.

The three kitesurfers had reportedly tied themselves to a mooring and were unable to get back to the beach.

They were taken aboard the lifeboat and returned to the shore. None were injured or required medical treatment.

The RNLI then recovered the kitesurfers' equipment to avoid it becoming a hazard to other water users.
