Exmouth firefighters put out a road sweeper that caught fire in Lympstone on Thursday morning (16 February).

A member of the public reported the blaze to the fire service just after 7.45am.

Crews from Exmouth were then sent to the scene and they put it out successfully.

A Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "Unfortunately the fire caused 70 per cent fire damage to the road sweeper, and a small amount of hydraulic oil spilt on the roadway - duty of care was left in the hands of the council.

"The fire is believed to have been accidental."
