Exmouth Nub News recently celebrated an important milestone, attracting more than 1,500 likes to our Facebook page. We have decided to thank Exmouth by writing an article on all the good things the town has to offer.

It's always a pleasure to walk through the vibrant streets of Exmouth, talk to local independent shop keepers, peruse the fantastic indoor market and an unwind at one of Exmouth's fantastic eateries or grab a drink at one of the town's pubs or bars.

The town, known as The Gateway to the Jurassic Coast, boasts two miles of sandy beach, a rarity in this part of Devon, and architecture from the Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian eras.

Sitting on the Exe Estuary and surrounded by natural beauty there is always something to do in Exmouth.

Eating out in Exmouth is a real treat. The town is surrounded by some of the best farmland in the country and sits next to one of the richest fisheries in the UK, so you can expect some of the finest locally sourced produce and seafood around.

The town is so well positioned that celebrity chef Michael Caines, who also runs nearby Lympstone Manor, is planning to open a new restaurant as part of a project to redevelop Exmouth Seafront.

If you are an impatient foodie why not check out Rockfish Exmouth, the Manor Hotel or even push the boat out with a trip to Lympstone Manor.

Walkers, cyclists, and water sports enthusiasts flock to the town every year to enjoy what it and the surrounding area has to offer.

Exmouth is an internationally recognised centre for water sports, primarily surfing, kayaking, windsurfing and kite surfing, but if you can think of a water sport it's probably on offer.

If chasing an adrenaline rush off the coast is not for you, then the two miles of sandy golden beach offers families the chance to create some perfect seaside holiday memories. Whether that's building sandcastles, swimming, rock pooling or taking a boat trip to take in the stunning scenery of the Jurassic Coast, there is something for everyone.

Cyclists can explore the picturesque Exe Estuary Trail, which runs from Exmouth to Dawlish along the banks of the Exe Estuary. You will pass protected wildlife habitats, shops, cafes and coastal towns as you explore the route.

Walkers enjoy taking on some of the most scenic sections of the South West Coast Path, which runs through the town as it snakes up the south coast of the county.

The town is a hotspot for independent shops and traders. No trip to the town is complete without a wander around Exmouth Indoor Market. Exmouth is also home to dozens of listed buildings and history buffs can dive right in by following the town's Blue Plaque heritage trail.

If blue plaques are not your thing there is also a Dinosaur Trail featuring life size models of some of the area's ancient inhabitants. While some of these dinosaurs have had a rough time with vandalism of late the trail is a perfect family day out.

Families can also enjoy getting to know the many animals at World of Country Life or spend the day at Crealy Adventure Park.

The dates for this year's Exmouth Festival have recently been announced. The free festival, organised by the town council, attracts thousands of festival goers from across the south west every year. You can expect live music, theatre, comedy and a great atmosphere.

Every August the skies of Exmouth are transformed by the annual Kite Festival. The festival, another fabulous family day out, features competitions, stunts and routines which you cannot help but be amazed by.

In summary the team at Exmouth Nub News feels very lucky to work in such vibrant and community spirited town. We look forward to continuing to bring you all the news and events Exmouth has to offer.
