Exmouth Town Council has installed two new water bottle refill stations in the town in an effort to reduce plastic waste.

The town council worked in partnership with the Sideshore Watersports Centre, Devon County Council and East Devon District Council to install them.

The refill stations work by pushing a button and provide 'clean, hygienic water in accordance with the strict regulations'.

Mayor of Exmouth Councillor Steve Gazzard said: "Not only will [the refill stations] help us reduce single-use plastic bottles, but also promote healthier lifestyles by ensuring we drink plenty of fresh clean water."

Sideshore Venue Manager Simon Findel-Hawkins said: "The Sideshore team are delighted to be working with the local council and community to highlight the importance of eliminating single-use plastics, which can be extremely detrimental to our beautiful surrounding environment."

Exmouth councillor and Devon County Council Chairman Jeff Trail BEM said: "Single-use plastics are a scourge on the environment ... by encouraging people to fill up it will help reduce litter particularly around the beach area."

You can find the refill stations outside the railway station and at the Sideshore Watersports Centre on Queen's Drive.
