Exmouth Town Council to launch councillor surgeries
Do you live in Exmouth's Town Ward? Here's a new opportunity to raise concerns with your town councillors
Exmouth's Town Ward councillors will be introducing a new constituent surgery system, similar to those operated by many MPs, where any concerns within the ward may be raised.
Councillor Steve Gazzard, Chairman of the Council, said the initiative "represents a real step forward for the town council". He added: "We hope the public take this opportunity to come and talk to us about issues they may need the town council to address or individual cases for which we may be able to provide support."
The first surgery will be held on Saturday, February 1, at Exmouth Town Football Club's clubhouse from 12.00am to 1.30pm and then on the first weekend of every month thereafter; further dates will be announced later.
Councillors will be on hand to discuss any issues raised by members of the public, to give general advice on any local issue and provide help and support where required. Where issues raised fall outside of the town council's jurisdiction, residents will be directed onto other relevant authorities, if possible.
Town Ward takes in the town centre, the seafront from the Marina to Carlton Hill, the Estuary as far as the mouth of Withycombe Brook at Mudbank, Phear Park and roads bounded by Marine Way, Park Road, Marpool Hill, Albion Hill, Montpellier Road, Bicton Street, Bicton Villas, The Beacon and Carlton Hill.
The town council are organising this on a cross-party basis, with at least two councillors present at each surgery. Your five town councillors are:
-Alex Sadiq (Liberal Democrat)
-Joe Whibley (Independent)-Olly Davey (Green Party)
-Paul Millar (Independent)-Tim Dumper (Liberal Democrat)
