Firefighters called to shop blaze in Exmouth town centre

Fire crews from Exmouth and Exeter assisted with a fire in a shop on the Parade in Exmouth yesterday afternoon (July 5). Reports indicate that the cause of the fire was deliberate.

According to Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue: "Two appliances from Exmouth, one from Middlemoor and the aerial ladder platform were mobilised to a report of fire in the rear of a shop on the Parade.

"A small fire was discovered in the basement of the three storey building and was extinguished using one hose reel jet.

"One thermal imaging camera, small tools and a gas monitor were also used to ensure the scene was safe.

"The cause of the fire is deemed to be deliberate."
