Firefighters put out Exmouth flat fire

Firefighters put out a small fire in a bedroom of a first-floor flat on Mountain Close in Exmouth on Saturday (20 May).

Crews from Exmouth and Exeter Middlemoor were called to the scene at 12.40pm.

One person, who was suffering from smoke inhalation, was taken to hospital.

The fire was deemed accidental.

A Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "Fire control received a call to a property on fire on Mountain Close in Exmouth.

"Control mobilised three fire appliances from Exmouth and Middlemoor along with two supporting officers.

"Once on scene, crews confirmed small fire in first-floor flat. Crews on scene requested ambulance for one person suffering smoke inhalation. Due to this, control had to mobilise a fire investigation officer to the scene to investigate the cause of the fire.

"Crews confirmed a fire within a bedroom in a first-floor flat was extinguished using two breathing apparatus, one hose reel jet, one safety jet and one positive pressure ventilation fan. One person was taken to hospital for precautionary check-ups. This fire is deemed to have been accidental."
