The new owner of The Chronicle Restaurant in Exmouth is celebrating her first year in business after opening in April 2022.

Formerly the headquarters of defunct local newspaper The Chronicle, and more recently a restaurant of the same name, Amy Matthews has turned it into a 1930s-style Art Deco eatery.

She said: "After receiving rave reviews at my previous restaurants - The Swan Inn at Lympstone and The Heavitree in Exmouth - I have found my dream venue at The Chronicle.

"Located in the centre of Exmouth, myself along with my partner James spent six months completely renovating the restaurant.

"The site was formerly local newspaper The Chronicle and throughout the transformation we kept to the Art Deco vibe and style with no expense spared with the 1930s decor.

"A new kitchen and bar has been installed and the old restaurant dramatically transformed.

"We source fresh local produce and locally caught seafood for our seasonally changing menu, and aim to create a great dining experience with our unique menu and fine wines in a cosy atmosphere.

"We have a pretty big menu which has lots of choice for everyone, including vegan, GF and the good old meat lovers: pork belly, chicken, duck, lamb and the best steaks ever with homemade chips!"

The Chronicle Restaurant is now open for brunch and lunch Tuesday to Friday and evening meals Tuesday to Saturday. It also claims to serve "the best roast in Exmouth" on Sundays from 12pm-4pm.

You can find it on Chapel Hill in Exmouth and here on Google Maps.
