Firefighters tackled a 'deep-seated' fire in a recycling trailer full of mixed waste yesterday (Tuesday 9 August) in the Exmouth area.

Crews from Exmouth, Danes Castle (Exeter), and Newton Abbot were called to the scene just before 11am.

A spokesperson for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue said: "Crews were sent to reports of smoke issuing from a full recycling trailer, full of mixed waste.

"Crews arrived on scene and got to work to extinguish a deep seated fire within the waste.

"Crews used six main jets, four breathing apparatus, compressed air foam, a thermal imaging camera and two ladders to put the fire out."
