An Exmouth ice cream parlour is bringing a street food favourite from Hong Kong to people in Exmouth.

Bubble waffles are currently taking the American street food scene by storm and on Saturday (June 20) Antonio's, on The Strand, will be adding the unusual sweet treat to their menu.

In the run up to the weekend the family run ice cream parlour is running a competition to give away FREE bubble waffles to a small number of lucky winners.

To be in with a chance of winning a FREE brand new 'must try' bubble waffle to take away from Antonios:

-Ensure you have liked or followed the Antonio's page.

-Tag three friends in the comments of the competition post.

-Share the competition post to your timeline.

Antonio's currently has six flavour combinations for the bubble waffles:

-Raspberry Pavlova

-Oreo Cookies and Cream

-Lotus Biscoff

-Banoffee Pie

-After Eight Mint

-Chocolate Nutella

All of Antonio's hand made Italian gelato is made on site and the bubble waffles will have an introductory price of £5.

The winners will be announced on Antonio's social media pages on Friday and the lucky winners will be able to collect their bubble waffles on Saturday.

Nub New caught up with Antonio's owner Tony Badcott today to find out more about the sweet treat, he said: "They are like a mixture of a belgian waffle and a crepe, with air bubbles in them. They originate in Hong Kong and are sold as street food, they have really proved popular because they are so unusual.

"It's only a matter of time before they are a big hit in the UK and we thought East Devon deserves to be ahead of the trend.

"At the moment as a business we cannot stand still, we've got a long winter ahead of us.

"It is made with a pancake waffle mix and has a sweeter taste than a belgian waffle. They are made fresh and our ice cream is made fresh every morning."

Tony plans on trialling the bubble waffles for the next few weeks and, if they prove popular, will be using them in some new ideas he has had.

Tony added: "Last week we had smoky bacon and maple syrup flavoured ice cream in the cabinet, we are not afraid to to create new and unusual flavours for our customers.

"We all need something to cheer us up at the moment, hopefully we can give people a smile and something to look forward to."

To help support his business and keep his loyal customers stocked up with the Italian gelato they are so fond of, Tony has been delivering ice cream to people across East Devon.

Speaking in April this year Tony said: "At the moment it's all about being that little bit more entrepreneurial so that when the lock down is lifted we can continue as a business."
