#NoMowMay
It might seem peculiar, but people across the country are being asked not to mow their lawns next month to help bees.
British conservation charity Plantlife has launched a campaign called 'No Mow May', calling on gardeners to leave their lawn to grow for the month.
According to the charity, if you "lock up your lawnmower" from this Saturday (1 May), it will enable wildflowers to bloom on your lawn.
This will provide essential nectar for bees, as they go about their pollination and make honey in their hives.
Not only is pollination good for bees, it is also essential for the fertilisation of plants.
At the end of May, on the bank holiday weekend, you can take part in the charity's 'Every Flower Counts' survey to discover how many bees are being helped - and you can even find out how many bees your own lawn can feed.
