East Devon District Council has announced it will appoint a consultancy firm to help it draw up a plan for how Exmouth's town centre and seafront can be improved based on over 1,400 responses to an eight-week consultation held last summer.

The plan will include projects which, if approved, would "hopefully" begin by summer 2024.

Once appointed, the consultancy firm will spend an estimated 12 months looking at the options suggested.

The council said it will publish draft and final versions of the plan, with feedback welcome, before making decisions.

Leader of the Council Cllr Paul Arnott (Independent East Devon Alliance, Coly Valley) said: "There were a number of key themes and characteristics that were highlighted as part of the consultation and I cannot wait to see the draft plans which will be based on everyone's suggestions – making the area more attractive, welcoming and user-friendly with improved signage to the town centre and seafront."
