A local McDonald's franchisee has sponsored Exmouth Town FC's Under-7s youth team.

David Shawyer, who runs and operates four restaurants in the Exeter and Exmouth area, provided the youngsters with 20 full kits and boot bags as well as additional training equipment.

Exmouth Town FC's Under-7s Head Coach Ben Dwyer said: "The support of McDonald's will allow us to continue to keep our membership fees low and give access to youth football regardless of background and ability."

Mr Shawyer said: "Youth football is really important for our community which is why we support local teams through each restaurant, and I'm delighted to help support Exmouth Town Under-7s by providing the new kits and training equipment.

"I look forward to seeing the team enjoy playing their upcoming fixtures."

The donation was also match-funded by Tom Barnsley, Senior Sports Sponsorship Manager at McDonald's UK&I.

Mr Shawyer and his restaurants have been supporting grassroots football in the local community as part of McDonald's Fun Football programme for many years, sessions of which will take place across the UK from June.
