Man found near Budleigh pronounced dead at scene

A man was pronounced dead at the scene after being found at the bottom of cliffs at Otterton Ledge near Budleigh Salterton on Thursday (25 May).

Police are making enquiries to try and find out who he was and locate his next of kin.

His death is not believed to be suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.

The alarm was raised at around 11.10am and police were called to the scene at 12.10pm.

The police force, HM Coastguard teams and a helicopter, Devon Air Ambulance, Sidmouth Independent Lifeboat and ambulance service were all involved in the emergency response.

A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson said: "Police were called at 12.10pm on Thursday (25 May), following concern for the welfare of a man found at the base of cliffs at Otterton Ledge, Budleigh Salterton.

"The man was pronounced deceased at the scene.

"Enquiries are being carried out to identify him and to locate his next of kin.

"His death is not currently believed suspicious and a file is to be prepared for the coroner."
