A local McDonald's franchisee has donated £600 worth of litter collection equipment to the Budleigh Salterton Lions.

David Shawyer, who runs and operates four restaurants in the Exeter and Exmouth area, said: "McDonald's has committed to help keep our local communities clean for over 40 years. It's more important than ever we continue in the fight against litter.

"We're proud to do our bit in keeping Exmouth and Exeter clean and support amazing organisations such as the Budleigh Salterton Lions."

Richard Allen, President of the Budleigh Salterton Lions, said: "We're hugely grateful to McDonald's for the donation and supply of litter collection equipment.

"Our club is all about getting together to do good things and looking after the environment is among the top priorities for the Lions Club.

"I believe we can all make a difference and help improve our local environment for the benefit of residents, visitors and our wonderful local wildlife."

Mr Shawyer and his team will also be using the donated litter collection equipment, along with a Keep Britain Tidy 'Big School Clean Kit' to complete an upcoming local litter picking event with local primary schools in and around Budleigh Salterton.
