Person rescued from water at Dawlish Warren; Exmouth RNLI, HM Coastguard called out
A person was rescued from the water near Langstone Rock, Dawlish Warren yesterday (Tuesday 28 June).
HM Coastguard teams from Exmouth and Dawlish, a Coastguard helicopter, and RNLI crews from Exmouth and Teignmouth were called out after a member of the public dialled 999 at around 1.30pm.
With the help of Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service, the individual was rescued.
A Maritime and Coastguard Agency spokesperson said: "At approx. 1.30pm yesterday (28 June), HM Coastguard received a 999 call from a member of the public concerned about a person in the water at Langstone Rock, Dawlish [Warren].
"Exmouth and Dawlish Coastguard Rescue Teams, the Coastguard helicopter from St Athan, Teignmouth RNLI and Exmouth RNLI were sent.
"The casualty was recovered with the aid of Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue and passed into the care of awaiting teams."
HM Coastguard Area Commander Drew Parkinson tweeted about the incident yesterday afternoon, saying that the casualty had required rescuing from 'an inaccessible location'.
