Plans to install electric vehicle chargers at the Shell garage on Exeter Road in Exmouth have been approved by East Devon District Council.

A canopy will be put up over the chargers, a new electrical substation built, and the jet wash bay demolished.

Several trees will also need to be removed to the rear of the garage. However, the district council said new woodland edge trees and shrubs between the new EV charging points and retained trees should be planted.

Developers now have three years to begin work on the project. It is subject to several conditions, including protection for neighbouring residents from excessive noise and light spillage.
