Police were called out to an unattended rucksack on Exmouth seafront at around 5.30pm on Wednesday (9 August).

A cordon was put in place, but the rucksack was found to be just lost property and so was taken to Exmouth police station for safe keeping.

A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson said: "We were called at around 5.30pm following reports of an unattended rucksack being left on the Esplanade in Exmouth, which the caller found suspicious.

"Units attended and a cordon put in place as enquiries at the scene took place. Units were happy that the rucksack was not a risk and was in fact lost property and has been taken to Exmouth police station for safe keeping."
