Royal Marines help rescue injured mountain biker

Royal Marines helped rescue a mountain biker who was injured while riding near Exmouth.

The incident took place on Wednesday afternoon (February 26) near Yettington, between Exmouth and East Budleigh, at around 5.06pm.

Royal Marines from Lympstone's Commando Training Centre came to the aid of the mountain biker while emergency services made their way to the scene.

A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service Trust said: "We were called on Wednesday at 5.06pm about an incident in the area of Yettington, East Devon.

"The caller reported to us that someone had fallen off a mountain bike. Our first ambulance crew were assisted on scene by Royal Marines.

"The crew treated the male patient, and they were later supported by a second ambulance crew who transported the patient to hospital for further care."
