New data released by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) yesterday (June 12) show the number of deaths that have been recorded as a result of the coronavirus, by postcode area.

An interactive map of the UK allows users to search specific localities detailing how many people have died with the Covid-19 virus.

In Exmouth Town one death was recorded, with six in Littleham and a further two in the Exmouth Halsdon area.

This brings the current total for the Exmouth area as a whole to nine.

In the surrounding areas, Budleigh Salterton has recorded two deaths, one in Cyst, Exton and Lympstone and 10 in Seaton.

The hyperlocal breakdown shows deaths where Covid-19 was the underlying cause or was mentioned on the death certificate as a contributory factor between March 1 and May 31, registered by June 6 2020.

These figures can be compared to the last set of ONS statistics for Exmouth produced on May 1.
