The flood defence walls that stretch 342 feet along Exmouth beach, known as the 'Adobe of Love', are set to be tidied up thanks to financial backing from the Honiton-based Thelma Hulbert Gallery and East Devon District Council.

Led by Exmouth artist Anna Fitzgerald, it is hoped that volunteers will come and help clean the nine bays along the walls.

The current artwork, made up of multicoloured pixels and text that reads 'To be continued...', was created by Anna after a prior commission was unable to go ahead due to the coronavirus pandemic.

As many as 60 local creatives were also involved, and were invited to make their mark on one of the pixels.

A new public art project is planned for 2021 in the same space.

Volunteers are welcome to come and help Anna. If you'd like to take part, please email [email protected].

You must book in advance, due to COVID-19 restrictions. Those who come to help will be divided into teams.

The clean-up will take place on 11-13 May, from 4pm-8pm.
