Exmouth RNLI volunteers saved four paddleboarders swept out to sea at Budleigh Salterton on Monday (28 August).

At 3.38pm HM Coastguard requested the launch of Exmouth RNLI's inshore lifeboat following a report of four people on two paddleboards in distress off the River Otter.

The lifeboat launched at 3.50pm and the lifesavers found the individuals at 4.01pm about 600 metres offshore.

They took all four, none of whom were injured or required medical attention, on board the lifeboat and conveyed them safely to shore.

The group had had no safety equipment or means of calling for assistance.
