Bridge Road in Exeter will be closed in one direction overnight tonight (Monday 20 August).
The city bound road closure will take place from 8pm tonight until 6am tomorrow morning (Tuesday 21 August) when the road will re-open.
The closure is needed to carry out repairs to some defective deck components that were discovered during a detailed inspection of the Bascule Bridge last week.
An outside lane closure has been in place since Wednesday afternoon and will remain until the repairs are undertaken tonight. Delays are possible, especially during rush hour this afternoon.
The closure is only the city-bound side of Bridge Road from Matford Roundabout to Countess Wear Roundabout. The out-bound side of Bridge Road will remain open.
The alternative, signed, route for city-bound vehicles during the overnight closure will be via the A379, Bad Homburg Way, Hennock Road Central, Alphin Brook Road, Trusham Road, Marsh Green Road West, A377 Alphington Road, Alphington Street, Exe Bridge, Frog Street, Western Way, A3015 Holloway Street, Topsham Road.
