New marker buoys are being installed on the Exe Estuary this week, to identify the location of two new wildlife refuges.
Known as wildlife refuges, the areas are marked out with yellow 'special mark' buoys which have "WR" in black letters printed on them. People are being asked to avoid the areas, all year round at Dawlish Warren National Nature Reserve (NNR) and between15 September to 31 December at Exmouth Local Nature Reserve (LNR).

Council's StreetScene and Countryside teams and volunteers celebrate Green Flag Awards for Connaught Gardens, Sidmouth (15th year running), Manor Gardens, Exmouth (14th year running) and Seaton Wetlands (second year running)
The three award winning spaces, which are all owned and managed by the council with unstinting support from volunteers, are among a record-breaking 1,883 UK parks and green spaces that have received a prestigious Green Flag Award – the mark of a quality park or green space.

The public is urged to avoid using an Exmouth nature reserve from next month as two new areas to protect wildlife on the Exe Estuary come into force this week.
Fun, interactive event for the learning disabled
The free event is designed to break down barriers between people with learning disabilities and the emergency services, helping them to be more confident and independent in the community. The theme for the day is to encourage people to be active, healthy and safe.
