In an eventful first half Town took the lead five minutes before half-time with a Robbie Fowler-type finish from centre-half Dave Rowe.

The second half saw marksman Levi Landricombe make the score 2-0 to Town with a cool finish. Axminster pulled a goal back virtually straight away 2-1 Town.
