The dates for this year's Exmouth Festival have been announced.

This year's festival, organised by Exmouth Town Council, will take place between May 22 and May 25.

Established in 1996 Exmouth Festival has been growing year on year. Held on the last May bank holiday each year, on its new site The Imperial Recreation Ground, Exmouth Festival is a major event in the county's cultural calendar.

It brings in a huge number of visitors to the town and puts Exmouth on the map as a place where music, art and culture are 'nurtured and grown'.

A spokesperson for the festival said: "Thanks to its origin, Exmouth Festival is highly attuned to the needs and desires of the local people of Exmouth and East Devon.

"Its impact on the area is significant, contributing as it does to the social, economic and cultural life of the town."

Last year's festival featured a primary school showcase, family comedy workshops, lots of live music from local bands, theatre and a stunt show.

The day to day running of the festival is down to the commitment and enthusiasm of its volunteers, the town council staff and the companies which run the stages, sound and security.

It is primarily funded by Exmouth Town Council as well as the generous donations of festival goers in the previous year.
