A brand new youth theatre group has started in Exmouth with the aim of building confidence in local young people.

The Blackmore Youth Theatre Group (BYT) is run by Tracey and Mike Hamilton, who are both DBS checked and have a wealth of experience in directing, choreographing and appearing in musicals.

Theatre group leader Tracey Hamilton said: "This is such a great opportunity for anyone who is interested in performing in the theatre when they are older.

"We will teach them all the skills so they have the 'triple threat', act, sing and dance. We are so lucky to be able to rehearse in an actual theatre and can provide other workshops in sound, lighting and makeup.

"I am so pleased and proud of our current BYT and hope this second group will be just as successful."

The Blackmore Youth Theatre will meet every Monday (term time only) from 5.30pm to 7pm.

The cost of the sessions is £25.00 per Half Term per child, which is payable in advance.

There will be workshops each week on acting, singing and dancing. The group will be working towards a small showcase and will be looking at doing a full Musical Show in the future.

The group is for children who want to build their confidence, work as a team and want to have fun while developing skills in drama and theatre.

There is an initial fee of £10 which is payable on acceptance per child for insurance which includes Junior Membership of The Blackmore Theatre up until Sept 2020.

This entitles them to full membership of the theatre and performing in all Monday evening BYT shows.

There is also the option to audition for additional shows at The Blackmore Theatre, for example the Christmas pantomime/family shows at no additional cost. This is renewed annually.

A free trial session will be held at the theatre on Monday, September 9, from 5.20pm to 7pm.
