The Exmouth community Fitness and Well-Being Group The Tri-Hards have recently registered their newly formed cycling club with British Cycling.

Three of their members have now completed British Cycling Leader training and British Red Cross first aid training to qualify as Cycle Leaders. The plan is that three or four more members will qualify as soon as the current coronavirus restrictions are lifted.

Regular group rides will be organised for riders of all abilities, from those who have not ridden for many years and need to gain confidence before attending the longer rides, to century rides of around 100 miles.

Cycle Leaders Hannah Frame, Nathan Budd and Damian Kennedy are all very excited about the new club and look forward to organising the weekly rides and monthly social rides.

The Tri-Hards are also hoping to organise a charity ride to Barnstaple later in the year in aid of Children's Hospice South West. This will hopefully become an annual event.

Membership to the Tri-Hards can now be paid monthly and is only £5 per month.

This also entitles you to attend the Tri-hards Running Club based here in Exmouth.

Tri-Hards founder Shelly Stammers said: "We host many Beginners courses, 5-10k courses, half marathon training along with hill, interval and speed sessions. We team up with Trimoore Coaching for workshops and have stuff in the pipeline with GB Duathlete Phil Wylie."

Tri-hards have around 3,000 followers and 250 official members.

Shelly added: Along with cycling and running we do many more activities such as rowing, climbing, horse riding, yoga, dragon boating, crossfit, boxing etc.

"As a group we regularly compete in competitions across the South West such as Triathlons, Cycle events and Running.

"We have regular socials and our club has a real sense of community. With members of all abilities, shapes and ages we support each other to be the best we can."

Since 2017 the Tri-hards have raised more than £25,000 for local charities.

This year the group will also be launching its Junior Running Club.
